Meet the Counselor, Danielle Scott
I am so excited to return to the Danville community for my fourth year as the elementary school counselor! It has been wonderful getting to know all of the students and I look forward to another fantastic year!
I have a Masters of Education degree in School Counseling from the University of the Southwest and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Vermont, double majoring in psychology and sociology. I began my career working in mental health, first as a crisis counselor at the Home Intervention program through Washington County Mental Health, then as a recovery counselor at Second Spring Community Recovery Residence. It wasn't until I became a mother and decided to open my own childcare business that I discovered my passion was working with children. After almost a decade of operating my childcare business, I returned to school for school counseling. I completed my practicum at Blue Mountain before joining Danville in 2018.
I am married to an educator and together we have four children: Brody (12), Onyx (10), Jacoby (8), and Harmony(5). Together we enjoy traveling, camping, hiking, and swimming. I also love reading, doing puzzles, crafting, and playing/watching/coaching sports, especially basketball!

PERSONAL COUNSELING PHILOSOPHY
At the core of my counseling philosophy is that each child has a right to feel safe, competent, and valued. I place an emphasis on connecting and building relationships with each child, letting their voices be heard, and advocating on their behalf. I believe in finding and utilizing the strengths of each child to overcome hardships, and creating open pathways of communication between parents and teachers.
